How established is LIP ?

Motoko started LIP in 2007. Motion pictures and Fine Art are Motoko's passion. LIP produces 30–40 wedding movies per year. Motoko works with a small team of experienced videographers. All are working artists and have cultivated sharp eyes and bright humor over years of working and collaborating with Motoko. These close relationships and strong bonds make for a team that understands Motoko's vision for what wedding videography should be.

Where are you located ?

Motoko has a video-editing "dungeon" in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in a building full of artists, photographers, designers and architects. Inspired by her neighbors and friends, she is in her studio all day everyday making movies. You are welcome to visit the studio for a consultation.

Who will film my wedding and how will it be edited ?

Motoko will be your primary shooter and will bring a 2nd shooter/assistant. If Motoko is not available on your wedding day, she can arrange shooters for you. Motoko is the main editor of all the movies and she uses the most up to date versions of Final Cut Pro and Pro Tools to give you the best quality video and sound.

How do you describe your shooting style ?

We shoot mainly hand held style and occasionally use monopods or tripods for situations that call for it. Cranes, steady cams and dollies do not suit our aesthetic and therefor are not used. We are as inconspicuous as possible. The style is documentary rather than directed. An honest candid moment captured without prompting translates more powerfully than a scripted event. We are very courteous and friendly. We will make sure that you are very comfortable having us film you.

What is the finished movie going to be like ?

NY Magazine says "Motoko Fukuyama uses her editing skills to artistically enhance your wedding video. Shooting in color, black and white, sepia, wide screen, and/or split screen, Fukuyama evokes everything from thirties Hollywood to MTV-style fast cuts, per the clients' preferences." The average length of the movie is 60 minutes but could be longer or shorter depending on material and preferences. With the right cuts, transitions, music and effects Motoko weaves the scenes of your wedding day into a seamlessly flowing one hour experience. She makes sure that you see all of the moments that made you laugh and cry as well as any moments that you may have missed out on. LIP's mission is to depict the essence of your wedding day. You will feel like that you are living your wedding day all over again as you watch the movie!

Do you ask your clients for their ideas ?

Yes! LIP is open for your ideas. We can make a movie that fits your suggestions and ideas!

Do you give clients raw footage ?

Yes! All yours!

What type of equipment do you use ?

Everything will be shot digitally in 1080 full HD by a combination of 2 amazing video cameras: Panasonic AF100 and HMC150. With these cameras, a wide variety of lenses and techniques can be employed to suit any shooting condition. The image quality is comparable in every way to a DSLR camera (For instance, Canon 5D Mark II) but the performance at capturing video is superior to any DSLR camera on the market.

Do you use artificial light ?

Good lighting is a necessity for shooting motion pictures. We depend on natural light most of the day. At night or in low light situations we must create some light. We use a portable video light that can be attached to our camera. But the minimum intrusion is always in our mind.

How do you record audio ?

Our standard method uses a powerful shotgun MIC attached to our cameras, which in most situations provide excellent sound recording. If there is a PA system available to record through we will capture the ceremony and reception on a separate audio recorder ZOOM h4n.

Do you have liability insurance ?

Yes. Certificate of insurance can be provided upon request.

Do you travel for weddings ?

Yes, in and out of NYC, and worldwide!

Can you modify the packages ?

Unfortunately, no. LIP has worked under various circumstances and we know that the packages work the best for everyone in the end. The only time we customize the package is when the clients want to hire LIP for multiple days or for destination weddings. BUT, if there's something extraordinary different about your wedding and our packages do not fit your needs, please let me know.

What is the booking process ?

You can make an appointment for an initial consultation with Motoko by emailing . Motoko can show you in depth details of her past work and answer any questions that you may have. If you would like to retain LIP for your wedding day we ask that you sign the contract and remit a deposit (½ of the total balance) and mail these to LIP studio. We recommend signing the contract and remitting the deposit as soon as you have made your decision as booking is done on a first come first served basis. Motoko will sign the contract and mail your copy to you completing the booking process.

Can you recommend other vendors ?

Yes. Throughout our work, we meet so many wedding vendors. We listed our favorites on our resource page. We not only like their personality, we admire and appreciate their skill and professionalism in their fields.

What if the clients do not like the movie ?

It never happened before!

Can you film or edit non-wedding events ?

Yes. Tell us about your project.
